basICColor profilers can save ICC-profiles either to the system profiles folder [System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles], the user profiles folder [Home/Library/ColorSync/Profiles] or, in some cases, to a user defined folder. Since the [System/Library] is hidden and has Root rights in OS X 10.7 (Lion) and up, the OS redirects the [System] path to the [Home] path automatically in most cases. basICColor display 4 tries to write to [System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles]  directly and thus this mechanism doesn´t work. So you need to set "Save profiles to" to "User profiles folder" or select a "Custom folder" under "Preferences" -> "Profile creation".

You can access the hidden Library folder by selecting "Go" from the menu bar with the [ALT]-key pressed. You can the navigate to the ColorSync folder and the Profiles folder. Now, either make an Alias and move it to a visible folder of your choice or drag the Profiles folder to your Favourites in the side bar. Now you can access your ICC-profiles the way you are used to.

And this is how it works:

Another way to access profiles is through your ColorSync utility. Open a profile in ColorSync, right-click on the profile´s name and you can navigate to the Profiles folder.

The most elegant method is to make the hidden Library folder permanently visible through a terminal command. In the terminal window you type:

chflags nohidden ~/Library

– you create the tilde by pressing [ALT] N

– or you copy this command to the terminal window. Now you can access your ICC-profiles folder the way you were used to in earlier versions of OS X.
